Explanation:

Law of multiple proportion is applied only on binary compounds whose constituent particles combine together to form more than one compounds. Since constituent of Al2O3 form only one xompound that is aluminium oxide (Al2O3), therefore law of multiple proportion is not obeyed by oxide of aluminium.

Law of multiple proportions is not applicable to binary compounds whose constituents combine to form more than one compound.

  • Law of Multiple proportion states that when two elements combine to form more than one compound, the mass of one element, which combines with a fixed mass of the other element, will always be ratios of whole numbers.
  • the law of multiple proportions is not followed by all compound.
  • example- SO2 AND SO3 are two compounds of sulfur.the ration of oxygen combining with fix mass of sulfur is in 2:3 .this is an example where two compounds follow law of multiple proportions.
  • this law is valid when an element exist in one particular isotopic form in all its compound.but if the element is present in different isotopic form then the law does not validate.
