10. Write the summary of the following passage in a
60 words :
In the past century, life has become more comfortable for
man. Tasks which formerly had to be performed slowly
and painfully by hand, often in the dim light of candles
or little oil lamps, can now be performed simply by the
pressing of an electric switch. People come more and more
closely into touch with each other, and in a few minutes
something that happens in an out-of-the-way corner can
be having its effect all round the globe. Even more
important are the comforts and conveniences which
science has brought into our own homes. We can speak
to distant friends by telephone, listen to the wireless or go
to the cinema, and so find constant amusement or
instruction. +
