Major Grant took 850 soldiers to the fort, and set up a trap for the French. But they ended up falling in the trap themselves. several of the forces were killed  and Grant was captured.

The "French and Indian War" marked its end after the British defeated the French in Quebec. It was 1760 when the British invaded "Fort Pontchartrain" and renamed it "Fort Detroit", Thus ending the war. Yet the war officially ended in 1763 when the "Treaty of Paris" was signed between Britain and France. Since, the British had emerged victorious they took control of the French lands. Britain took all the land from the eastern coast in "North America" to the "Mississippi River".
