Leaf is the main photosynthetic organ in a plant. It controls gaseous exchange and the amount of water loss. The lower epidermal of the leaf contains some pores called stomata. These stomata are formed by two epidermal cells called the guard cells. Guard cells are the only epidermal cells that contain chloroplast. A layer of palisade cells are also present in the leaf. It contains a large number of chloroplast which help them to perform photosynthesis. [1x4=4]
