But due to certain reasons like during maintenance or due to lack of maintenance leakage of gas occurs. When this gas escapes into the environment into the stratosphere the solar UV radiation breaks the molecules and releases the chlorine atom which then takes one atom of oxygen from the ozone's and forms chlorine monoxide and the remaining goes to the environment. This forms a hole in the ozone layer causing damage to the ozone which leads to the damage of the environment.
