Modal verbs are auxiliary verbs that help the main verbs of the sentence.

Explanation:

  • Modal verbs are verbs that support the main verbs (action verbs) of the sentence.
  • The modal verbs include: shall, should, can, could, will, would, may, might, need to, must etc.,
  • In the article attached we have 4 modal verbs used.
  • We have 'may lead to'. The modal verb is 'may'. It expresses probability  (doubtful) of the problems like fatigue.
  • We have 'need to' another modal in 'need to be extra diligent about sipping'. 'Need to' expresses an obligation. It means one has to be diligent about sipping.
  • The there is a modal 'can' in 'which can even happen'. Here it expresses more possibility.
  • Finally we again have 'may' in 'may also help you reach'. Here again it is a probability. It says if you regularly wet your whistle then there is a probability in reaching the ideal weight.
  • All the modals are highlighted in the article.
