Learn to Enjoy the Poem
- Answer the following questions.
(i) Name any ten things that can be seen from the railway carriage.
(ii) What travels faster than fairies and witches?
(iii) What are the horses and the cattle doing? .
(iv) What is the child doing?
(v) Who is standing and gazing?
(vi) Write the rhyming scheme of the poem. Also write down any five pairof rhyming words.

  1. They include: bridges, houses, ditches, meadows, horses, cattle, hills, plains, painted stations, cart, a child, a tramp, mills and rivers, etc.
  2. Poet says that train runs more quickly than the fairies can fly or the witches can move. When train advances forward it seems as the soldiers are attacking enemy in a battle field. The train rushes on leaving bridges, houses, fences and ditches behind. It also leaves behind the green fields where horses and Cattle are grazing.
  3. Horses help move cattle from one pasture to another or gather cows and calves from grazing lands. Before it snows, ranch hands use their horses to comb the backcountry, collecting cattle over several days. Horses allow ranchers to cover great distances and undeveloped terrains that often have no roads.
  4. The child is sleeping.
  5. Men of Galilee is standing and gazing.
  6. The rhyming scheme would be a b a b c d c d e f e f......!! The rhyming words are as follows - Say and Day gloom and bloom all and fall merrily and cheerily by and fly.
