Least count is the Smallest possible measurement given by an instrument...it means Any instrument which gives the smallest measurement is its least count...and this least count is called least count error given by that instrument..
For example...Least measurement you can take from a Scale(Rular) is 1mm...So Least count of the scale is 1mm..and this is the least count error of the scale...

Wrist watch can measure a time upto 1 second...is the least count of the watch...and watch can make error of 1 second...

Simillarly We can measure angles using instrument Protractor upto 1 degree...is called its least count beacome a least count error of that protractor..

Verniar calliper is device which can measure 1/10 mm...means if u make 10 equal parts of 1mm..1 part out of it can be measured from this instrument...this is the least count of this instrument..So least count of vernier calliper is 1/10 mm i.e, 0.1mm..

If you Make 100 equal divisions of 1mm...Then an instrument which can give the measurement of part out of 100 equal parts is called Micrometer...This is the least count of this instrument..So least count of Micrometer is 1/100 mm i.e, 0.01mm...

Hope this hlp...
