Leaves of a tree gets detached when we shake it vigorously because of the inertia of rest . It is the ability of the body to oppose the position of rest. That's why leaves gets detached from tree. As the tree was initially in rest position after shaking it it will comes in motion. this opposes the position of leaves.

if we shake the branch of a tree vigoursly, then the branch of tree comes in motion but the leaves tend to remain at rest due to inertia and hence detach from the branch and fall down
