If the plant will coat with petroleum jelly then it will block its Stomata which will make the plant die.

the process of photosynthesis can be affected by the jelly in two ways

1) it will not allow tiny pores called stomata to do gases exchange

and this will stop the enheling of CO2 in plants

2)it can reflect the sun light before it reaches to the chlorophyll

this will stop the process of photosynthesis and no glucose will be formed
