Answer:

The law on gender equality proclaimed in 1947 was a historic event that brought about fundamental change in eliminating all forms of discrimination against women, which had been a root cause for all misfortunes and sufferings of women in olden times. Having a firm legal basis by the promulgation of the above law, the equal rights of women have been further guaranteed through the state measures and social policies which were taken in conformity with the benevelant policy introduced by the great leader President Kim II Sung and carried on by the great General Kim Jong II. The socialist constitution and the family law of DPRK are also important legislative measures which: further specified, in detail, the articles of the previous laws so that women, having equal rights with men, can freely participate in the activities of political, social and economic fields.
