Answer:

Pollination process in plants

Pollination process occurs when pollen grains from the male part of one flower (anther) are transferred to the female part (stigma) of another flower. Once pollination occurs, the fertilized flowers produce seeds, which enable the associated plant to reproduce and/or form fruit. ... Pollination through wind is an example.

  • Pollination is the process of transfer of pollen grains carrying the male gametes to the stigma by any pollinating agent.

There are two types of pollination:

(a) Self Pollination: It is the transfer of pollen grains from anther to stigma of the same flower or a different flower in the same plant.

(b) Cross pollination: It is the transfer of pollen grains from anther of one flower to the stigma of another flower of different plant of same kind.

Modes of pollination:

  • Anaemophily (By air)
  • Hydrophily (By water)
  • Entomophioy (By insects)
  • Orinthophily (By birds)
  • Other vertebrates (Zoophily) etc.
