Lencho was a simple ascetic. He had immense faith in God. When his cropsdestroyed in the haol storm, he decided to seek help of God. He wrote a letter to God, stating his needs. However he didn't know that there was no living being named God.

When he received the money, 70 pesos from a letter signed as God, he regarded the post office employees as bunch of crooks as he doubted they had stolen his money .

This shows he had immense faith in God but no faith in humanity.

lencho is a inocent farmer who had a complete faith in god .he believed that god could see even what deep in ones conscience.as his crop was totally destroyed by hailstrome so he wrote a letter to god asking 100 pesos to survive.when he post the letter to postoffice postmaster read the read firstly he laughted at him but later he became serious and decided to help him

he helped lencho because he didnot want to shake the faith of god from lencho's mind postmaster and other employers collect some money to help him .they collected 70 pesos. when lencho came to collect money he found 30 pesos missing then he again wrote a letter to god to not send money by post as they are bunch of crooks .this shows that lencho lack faith in humanity.
