Answer:

Lencho is a hard working farmer. He has great faith in God. His faith in God is total blind. When his crops get destroyed as a result of heavy rains and hailstones he becomes sad. As an innocent human being, he writes a letter to God asking for one hundred pesos. One can laugh at his simple-heartedness but one cannot ignore the firmness of his beliefs.

Like many human beings, he trusts God but not fellow human beings. When he gets less money as demanded by him from God he begins to doubt the integrity of the postal staff, as he thinks that ' they are a bunch of crooks '.

Thus, Lencho is a hard-working, innocent farmer. He has firm faith but does not know what he should put his faith in. He does not know that God helps each one of us through his own created human beings.

On receiving the amount, Lencho gets angry and feels that God must have sent him one hundred pesos and that the postal letter to God asking him not to send the rest of the money through the mail. Thus, the first letter to God illustrates faith in God, the second shows the lack of faith in fellow human beings.

We may find people like Lencho in the real world also. In fact, Lencho is an innocent, simple and ignorant person. Like many people in the world, he has unflinching faith in God. He is a person who remains busy in his works without showing much interest in the world around. He believes that God helps all and is present everywhere.

Lencho's innocence can proved from the story itself.

Lencho is a simple and innocent farmer. His crops perish due to hailstones. In his innocense he writes a letter to God demanding on hundred pesos. He mails the letter. When the postmaster sees the address, he is amused. He opens the letter. Being sympathetic he decides to help the poor farmer. He is able to collect seventy pesos. He puts the money in a letter and puts the signature 'God' as the sender. When Lencho opens the letter, he gets angry. He has got seventy pesos instead of hundred . His anger is justified as he can never think that God will send him less money that what he has demanded. He suspects the post office employees. So he writes another letter to God. He asks God to send the remaining amount not through the mail as the post office employees are dishonest. He is angry because he is unaware of people who have really helped him. It reveals about his firm faith in God.

This shows that Lencho was an innocent and naive person.
