The amount of heat energy is used when a liquid changes to gases and the heat energy is used to overcome the force of attraction between the molecules is called latent heat of vaporization

When a liquid is heated to form vapours so the temperature does not changes. So, this heat which is used in this process seems to be hidden in parts of tumbler. This heat is known as latent heat of fusion.
