lenght of the fence of a trapezium shaped field abcd is 120m. if bc is equal to 48m, cd is 17m, and ad is 40m. find the area of this field. side bc is perpendicular to the parallel side ad and bc.

If a perpendicular from D to BC is drawn then it will be equal to AB,
then EC = 48-40 = 8 m.
In ΔDEC
D
 E^{2}  = D C^{2} -E C^{2}
D E^{2}  = 172 - 82 = 289 - 64 = 225
Or, DE = 15 m
