Length 5x +4 breadthx-4
Length of a rectangle exceeds its breadth by 4 m. If the perimeter of the rectangle is 84 m,
find its length and breadth.

∴ length = x+4 m

Perimeter of the rectangle = 84 m

2(l+b) = 84 m

2(x+x+4) m = 84 m

2(2x+4) m = 84 m

2x + 4 m = \frac{84 m}{2 m} \\

2x + 4 = 42

2x = 42 - 4

2x = 38

x = 17

∴ Length = 17 + 4 = 21 m

∴ Breadth = 17 m
