Step-by-step explanation:

First we would find the perimeter of the rectangle. It would be same for the square also. Then we will divide the perimeter by 4. The quotient will be the length of one side of the square. So, lets do it.

We know that perimeter of a rectangle = 2 × ( Length + Breadth )

So, the perimeter of the rectangle = { 2 × ( 9 + 7 ) } cm

                                                         = ( 2 × 16 ) cm

                                                         = 32 cm

We know that the perimeter is also same for the square. We can also say that the square's perimeter is 32 cm. So, now we will find the length of a side of a square. We know that the length of a side of a square is

Perimeter ÷ 4.

So, the length of a side of the square = 32 ÷ 4

                                                               = 8 cm.

So, 8cm is the length of the square.
