Length and width of a field are in ratio 5:3 if the width of the field is 42m then find the area of the rectangle?​

So If there is unknown ratio given...we assume it as x. For example here

Ratio of Length and width of a field is 5:3

So we assume that,

Length of field = 5x

Width of Field = 3x

Now further given, width of field is 42 m

and we have to find area

So, we can say 3x=42 and x=14

Now Put x=14 in Length(5x)

So Length is 14×5 = 70

Now we have width= 42 and Length= 70

Area = length × width

Area = 70 × 42

Area = 2940 m square
