Given:

  • length and width of the field in ratio = 5:3
  • width of the field = 42m

To Find:

length of the field

Solution:

Let the length and width of the field be "5x" and "3x" metres

width = 42m

⟹\sf{3x = 42m}

⟹\sf{x = \frac{42}{3} = 14}

⟹\sf\underline\red{x = 14}

Now,

length = 5x

⟹\sf{5 × 14}

⟹\sf{70m}

Hence,

length of the field is 70m
