The distance from the centre of the circle is 6 cm.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Let the radius of the circle be r, half the length of the chord will be \frac{c}{2}.

Also the distance from centre of circle d form a right-angled triangle with the radius of the circle r as the hypotenuse of the triangle h.

r^2=(\frac{c}{2})^2+d^2

7.5^2 = (\frac{9}{2} )^2 + d^2

d^2 = 7.5^2 - 4.5^2

d^2 = 56.25 -20.25

d^2 = 36

d=\sqrt{36}

⇒d=6 cm

The distance from the centre of the circle d =6 cm.
