let breadth be X
let length be 2x-3
now, perimeter =42
and we know
perimeter =2 *(length +breadth)
42 =2*(2x-3+X)
42=2*(3x-3)
42=6x-6
42+6=6x
48 =6x
48/6=X
8=X
so length=2*8-3=13
breadth =8

Question
- Length of a rectangle is 3 metres less than twice the breadth and its perimeter is 42 meters. Find the length and breadth?
Answer
- Length = 13m
- Breadth = 8m
Given
- Length of rectangle is 3m less than twice the breadth
- perimeter = 42m
To Calculate
- Length and breadth __?
Step by Step Explanation
Let the Breadth of rectangle = x
Then
Length of rectangle be 2x-3
Perimeter of rectangle = 2(l+b)
☞ 42 = 2(2x-3+x )
☞ 42 = 2(3x-3)
☞ 42= 6x-6
☞ 42+6=6x
☞ 48=6x
☞ x= 48/6
☞ x=8
Length = 2x-3 = 2×(8)-3 = 16-3 = 13
Breadth = 8
- Length = 13m
- Breadth = 8m

- Area of rectangle = l×b
Where
L= Length
B= Breadth
