length of a rectangle is 5 less than twice its breath. if the perimeter is 110 than find area of rectangle with cross multiplication.

  • x = 2(y) - 5
  • x - 2y + 5 = 0 --(i)

Let, the breadth be x

Perimeter of rectangle = 110

→ 2 ( l + b ) = 110

2 ( 2x - 5 + x ) = 110

→ 2 ( 3x - 5 ) = 110

→ 6x - 10 = 110

6x = 110 + 10

6x = 120

x = 120/6

x = 20

Area of rectangle = l × b

Area of rectangle = ( 2 × 20 - 5 ) × 20

⇒ Area of rectangle = 40 - 5 × 20

⇒ Area of rectangle = 35 × 20

⇒ Area of rectangle = 35 × 20

⇒ Area of rectangle = 700
