Let breadth be x

Let Length be x+7

Area Given : 60 cm²

x(x+7)=60

x²+7x-60=0

x²+12x-5x-60=0

x(x+12)-5(x+12)=0

(x+12)(x-5)=0

x = -12,5 [Since Length and Breadth Cannot be negative so x = 5]

Length = x+7 = 12

Breadth = x = 5

Given : length is 7 cm more than its breadth

area of rectangle is 60 sq cm.

To find: dimensions of a rectangle

Step-by-step explanation:

According to question

Let the breadth be x cm

and the length is 7 more than its breadth = x+7

Now applying the formula area of rectangle = length \times breadth

Area of rectangle = length \times breadth

60=(7+x)(x)

60=7x+x^2

x^2+7x-60

Using middle term splitting

x^2+12x-5x-60

x(x+12)-5(x+12)

(x+12)(x-5)

x=-12 and x=5

Length should not be -ve so the value of x = 5

breadth  =  5 cm and

length =  5+7 = 12 cm
