let the breadth of rectangle  = x

therefore length of the  rectangle= 3x

perimeter of the rectangle = 48cm

                                2(l+b)    =48

                                2(x+3x)   =48

                                     4x     = 48/2

                                       x    = 24/4

                                         x = 6

hence breadth=x=6cm

length = 3x = 6×3 = 18cm
