Answer:

here let the breadth be x, length be x+6

By the problem,

2(x+x+6) = 72

2(2x+6) =72

4x+12 = 72

4x=72-12

4x=60

x= 60/4=15

therefore, breadth = 15 , length = (15+6) = 21

Following are the steps for getting the answer:

Given:

Length of a rectangular field is 6 meters more than its breadth

The perimeter of the field is a 72 meter

To find:

length and the width

Solution:

we have to find the length and width of the rectangle.

let ,  breadth of rectangle(b)=x

and lenght(l)=x+6

we know that,

perimeter =2(l+b)

72m=2(x+x+6)

72=2x+2x+12

72=4x+12

72-12=4x

60=4x

x=60/4

x=15

so , the breadth of reactangle is 15m

now,

lenght=x+6

         =15+6

         =21

Hence,the length=15m and the width=21m
