Length of a rectangular tank is twice its breadth. If the

depth of the tank is 3 m and area of its four walls is 108m2

, find the

length of the tank.​

let breadth of the rect. tank be x m (b)

so, length= 2x m (l)

depth = 3m (h)

ar.of four walls = 108m = lh + lh + bh+ bh

so, 108 = 2(lh) + 2(bh)

108 = 2(lh + bh)

108 = 2(2x * 3 + x* 3)

108 = 2(6x + 3x)

108 = 2(9x)

108 = 18x

thus , x= 108÷18

x= 6

Hence , length = 2*6 = 12
