R is the radius

S is point outside circle

we know tangent and radius are always perpendicular so triangle BTS is a right angle triangle.

using Pythagoras theorem,

BS sq+ BT sq= TS sq

12 sq + R sq= 12.5 sq

R = 3.5

so the diameter is 3.5*2= 7 cm
