Question

length of diagonal of a square is7√2cm .Then the area of the square is ?

Solution

Given:-

  • Length of diagonal of a square = 7√2 cm

Find:-

  • Area of square ?

Explanation

Using Formula

Area of square = (Side)²

Now, In Square ABCD

All side will be same .

So, We take Side of square be = x cm

Then,

  • AB = x cm
  • BC = x cm
  • CD = x cm
  • DA = x cm

And, diagonal BD = 72 cm

Here, we take ,

Right ∆ BCD

By,Pythagoras Theorem

( Hypotenuse )² = (perpendicular)² + (Base)²

==> (7√2)² = (x² ) + (x²)

==> 2x² = 49 × 2

==> x² = 49 × 2/2

==> x² = 49

==> x = √49

==> x = 7 cm

So, each side of square will be x = 7 cm.

Now, Calculate area of square

==> Area of square = (Side)²

==> Area of square = (7)²

==> Area of square = 49 cm². [Ans.]
