ANSWER:-

Given:

Length of rectangle exceeds breadth by 6cm. If length increased by 3cm & breadth decrease by 2cm the same area.

To find:

Find the length & breadth.

Solution:

Let the breadth be x &

Let the length be x+6

So,

Area of rectangle = length × breadth

=) (x+ 6)(x)

=) x² + 6x..........(1)

Therefore,

Length increased by 3cm & breadth deceased by 2cm

So,

⚫Length = x +6 +3

⚫Breadth= x -2

Now,

Area is, (x+9) (x-2)

=) x(x-2) +9(x-2)

=) x² -2x + 9x -18

=) x² +7x -18.............(2)

Therefore,

Compare equation (1) & (2), we get;

➨ x²+6x = x² +7x - 18

➨ 6x = 7x -18

➨ 6x -7x = -18

➨ -x = -18

➨ x= 18cm

Thus,

Breadth, x = 18cm.

Length, x+6 = 18+ 6= 24cm.

Hope it helps ☺️
