Given :–

  • Parallel sides = 8.5cm and 11.5cm
  • Height = 4.2cm

To Find :–

  • Area of a trapezium.

Solution :–

We know that,

Area of a trapezium = \dfrac{1}{2} × (sum of two parallel sides) × height

  • Sum of two parallel sides = 8.5cm + 11.5cm
  • Height = 4.2cm

Now, put the given values on the formula of area of a trapezium.

 \dfrac{1}{2} × (8.5 + 11.5) × 4.2

 \dfrac{1}{2} × (20) × 4.2

 \dfrac{1}{\cancel2} \times \cancel{20} × 4.2

⟹ 10 × 4.2

 \cancel{10} ×  \dfrac{42}{\cancel{10}}

⟹ 42cm²

Hence,

The area of a trapezium is 42cm².

Given ,

  • The parallel sides of trapezium are 8.5 cm and 11.5 cm

  • Height of trapezium is 4.2 cm

We know that , the area of trapezium is given by

 \boxed{ \sf{Area =  \frac{1}{2} \times  (Sum  \: of  \: parallel \:  sides) \times  Height }}

Thus ,

Area = 1/2 × (8.5 + 11.5) × 4.2

Area = 1/2 × 20 × 4.2

Area = 10 × 4.2

Area = 42 cm²

Therefore ,

  • The area of trapezium is 42 cm²
