so,

2x + 5 = 5x - 7

5x - 2x = 5 + 7

3x = 12

x = 4.

2x + 5 = 2(4) + 5 = 8 + 5 = 13 cm.

5x - 7 = 5(4) - 7 = 20 - 7 = 13 cm.
