Sive reasons for the following:
Phenol cannot be converted to halobenzene by the same methods as applied for
conversion of alcohol to haloalkane.
Haloalkanes react with ethanolic KCN to form alkylcyanides as main product
while AgCN forms isocyanides as the chief product,
Chlorobenzene is reactive than chloroethane towards nucleophilic substitution
reactions
(iv) Although chlorine is an electron withdrawing group yet it is ortho-para-
directing in electrophilic aromatic substitution reactions.
(v) Alcohols have higher boiling points than aldehydes, ethers, haloalkanes and
alkanes having comparable molecular masses.​
