Let A = {1, 2, 3, 4} and B = {2, 5, 8, 11, 14} be two sets.

Let f : A B be a function given by f (x) = 3x-1.

Represent this function (i) by arrow diagram (ii) in a table form

(iii) as a set of ordered pairs (iv) in a graphical form

Given two sets

A =\{1,2,3,4\}\\B=\{2,5,8,11,14\}

Given that f:A - > B, f(x) = 3x-1

Then,

From the above equation we get

f(1) = 3(1)-1\\f(1)=2\\f(2) = 3(2)-1\\f(2)=5\\f(3) = 3(3)-1\\f(3)=8\\f(4) = 3(4)-1\\f(4)=11\\

from the above values we get

(i) by arrow diagram (refer to image 1)

(ii) In table form (refer to image 2)

(iii) Set of ordered pairs

     \{(1,2),(2,5),(3,8),(4,11)\}

(iv) graphical form (refer to image 3)
