Given

Let a = [ a_{ij} ] be a matrix of order 2 × 3

               Order 2 × 3 is 2 rows and 3 columns.

                    Order 2 × 3 = \left[\begin{array}{ccc}a_{11} &a_{12} &a_{13} \\a_{21} &a_{22} &a_{23} \\\end{array}\right]

From the given data where, a_{ij} = \frac{( i-j )}{( i+j )}  (given)

To find the value of a_{23},

                    a_{ij} = a_{23} = ?

            Here,   i = 2   ;  j = 3   ------> substitute the values in a_{ij}

                       a_{ij} = a_{23} = \frac{( i-j )}{( i+j )}  = \frac{( 2-3 )}{( 2+3 )} = \frac{(-1)}{5} = - \frac{1}{5}

Therefore, the value of a_{23} is - \frac{1}{5} .
