Answer:

p(x) = y^3+2y^2-5y-7

q(x) = y^3 + ay^2+-12+6

p(x) = (y+ 1)

q(x) = (y-2)

by factor theorm

y+1=y+a

a = -1

p(-1) = (-1)^3+2(-1)^2-5(-1)-7

= -1+2+5-7

= -8+7

= -1

q(x) = y^3 + ay^2 -12 +6
