Hey!

Small correction in the question!
Let a be the hcf of 24 and 36, Find the 2 numbers a and b, such that d=24a+36bd = HCF of 24 and 36

Now,
we have to find a and b such that d =24a + 36b
We can use Euclid division lemma!

24 = 2*12+0
36 = 24*1+12...........(i)

hence, HCF of 24 and 36 = 12

Nowm from (i) we get,
12 = 36 - 24
12 = 24(-1) + 36(1)
12 = 24(a) + 36(b)

hence, a  = -1 and b = 1

duragpalsingh: Hope It's correct.
gauri123: Actually the answer given in my question bank is (a=5,b=-3)
duragpalsingh: Then questions seems to be wrong framed.
gauri123: Yeah
