in triangle abc

A=(0,0)

B=(a,5)

C=(-5,5)

by Pythagoras theorem

(AC)^2= (AB)^2 + (BC)^2

so,(0-(-5))^2 + (0-5)^2 = (0-a)^2 + (0-5)^2 + (a-(-5))^2 + (5-5)^2

25+25 = a^2 + 25 + a^2 + 25 + 10a + 0

50 = 2(a^2) + 10a + 50

2(a^2) + 10a = 0

2a ( a + 5 ) = 0

so, 2a = 0

a=0

and, a + 5 = 0

a = -5
