As per the question we have to add 60% to M

M + 60% of M

= M + 0.6M

=1.6M

Now we have to decrease this result by 50%

= 1.6M – (1.6M ÷ 2)

= 1.6M – 0.8M

=0.8M

=8/10M

=M/1.25

Which is equal to M ÷ 1.25

So it is equal to dividing the number by 1.25

We have to divide the real number M by 1.25 to get the same result.
