Correct Question:-

Let P(5, 0), Q( –2, 2) and R(3, 4) be the vertices of the triangle PQR. Find the equation of the median through PQ and R.

Solution:-

The median of the triangle through R passes through the midpoint of PQ.

Let M be the midpoint of PQ. Then its coordinates will be \left(\dfrac{5-2}{2},\ \dfrac{0+2}{2}\right)=\left(\dfrac{3}{2},\ 1\right).

So the median passes through R(3, 4) and M(3/2, 1).

By two - point formula, the equation of the median is given by,

\longrightarrow\dfrac{y-4}{x-3}=\dfrac{1-4}{\dfrac{3}{2}-3}

\longrightarrow\dfrac{y-4}{x-3}=2

\longrightarrow y-4=2x-6

\longrightarrow\underline{\underline{2x-y-2=0}}

This is the equation of the median.
