Let's Do this!
Plot the following sets of points in the Cartesian plane. Connect each given set of points consecutively to form a quadrilateral.
Identify whether the figure is a parallelogram or not and answer the questions that follow.
1. (-1, 2);(-1,0); (1, 0); (1,2)
2. (1, 0); (3, 0);(0, -2); (3,-2)
3.(-4,-2);(-4,-4); (0,-2);(0,-4)
4.(3, 4); (2, 2); (3,0): (4,2)
5. (-4, 2):(-5, 1);(-3, 1);(-4,-2)

Answer:

1) It is a parallelogram .

2)  It is parallelogram

3)It is not a parallelogram

4)It is  a parallelogram

5)It is not a parallelogram

Step-by-step explanation:

Explanation:

First draw graph for each of the given question then plot the points on the graph  and check whether the given points are parallel or not.

For question 1:

Plot all the points (-1,2);(-1,0);(1,0);(1,2)  in the graph.

Here, we can see that when we join the  given points on graph

we  get all sides are equal of 2 units which show that it is a square.

For question 2:

Similarly , plot the points (1,0),(3,0),(0,-2) and (3,-2)on the graph

when we join all the points we get a trapezium shape figure which is a parallelogram.

For question 3:

Similarly , plot the given points on the graph we get rectangle.

It is not a parallelogram.

For question4:

Draw a graph and Plot the points (3,4),(2,2),(3,0) and (4,2)

So, when we join all the points we get a rhombus which is a parallelogram

For question 5:

Similarly , draw another graph for the given points (-4,2),(-5,1),(-3,1) and (-4,-2) and join all the points .

Here , we see that  the given points are make a kite which is not a parallelogram.

Final answer :

Hence , Given points of (1),(2) and (3) is a parallelogram and points of (3) and (5) are not parallelogram.
