B. Some situations are given below. Write down the proverb that would be most suitable
for the situation. One has been done for you.
1. Rajiv kept boasting about how fast he could run. He told his friends that he would win
the most number of medals on Sports Day. He never bothered to practise before Sports
Day. Finally when it was his tum to run in the race, many others were much faster than
he was and he did not win a single medel

2 Seema had gone to the stationery shop to buy some pencils. She saw a new kind of
pencil at the shop. It looked very attractive with its bright colours and cute pictures
printed on it She decided to buy these pencils rather than the usual dull-looking ones.
When she tried to sharpen the pencils, however, the lead kept breaking and the pencis
became small very quickly.

3. Isma's father wanted him to join the best school in the city. The school was far away
from the house but everyone said that it was very good. But Ismail did not get admission
in the school. His father was very upset. He got Ismail admitted in a school nearby but
continued to feel very sad that he had failed to get his son into the other school. Once,
during the monsoons, there was so much rain that the roads got flooded and it was
very aficult to move about anywhere. Ismail had no problem getting home because his
school was nearby, but the children who went to the other school could not go home and
had to spend the night in the school itself. They were tired, frightened and hungry, while
Ismail was safe in his house.
4. Thomas had mathematics homework. He simply could not find the answer to one of the
problems. He asked his elder sister to help him. She explained the sum to him and then
he could do it easily
5.Tim joined a new school.He loved to play football and to watch sports channels.Soon he made friends with some boys who belonged to the football team of the school. They usually spend their holidays now watching sports channels on television.​
