Let's practice our proportional analysis. For each change in the variable(s) below, quantitatively describe the effect on the other variable (ie double, triple, quarter, x4, /2).
Assuming we keep the work done constant...
A) If we double the force, the distance required will _______________.
B) If we quarter the force, the distance required will _______________.
C) If we quadruple the distance, the force required will ______________.
D) If we third the distance, the force required will ______________.

Answer:

work is defined as = Force × distance

a ) so when force is doubled , for the work to remain constant distance must be halved

b) if the force is quarter that is reduced by 4 the distance must increase by four times

c) if we quadruple the distance that is increase it by 4 times the force must be reduced by 4 times

d) if we third the distance that is decrease it by three times the force must be increased by 3 times that is the force becomes triple..

hope this helps
