let side of square was x then

x^2=90

x=3√10 m

new side is reduced by 1cm means 0.01 m

new side = 3√10-0.01 m

area of new square = (3√10-0.01)^2

                                 =  90+0.0001-0.06√10

                                  =90.0001-0.06√10  metre squares
