Answer:

=> Area = 9 cm²

=> a² = 9 cm²

=> a = √9 cm²

=> a = 3 cm

New Side = (3 - 1) = 2 cm

=> Area = a²

=> Area = (2 cm)²

=> Area = 4 cm²

Answer:

area \: of \: square \:  =  \: s {}^{2}  \\ 9 = s {}^{2}  \\ s = 3cm \\ now \: side \: is \: reduced \: by \: 1cm \\ new \: area \:  = 2 {}^{2}  \\  = 4cm {}^{2}
