formula to find height of an  isosceles triangle is=2xK/base...where k is an equal side

so...................putting values

2xk/base
=2x5/base
=10/8
=1.25 Ans

on dividing the base in 2 equal parts we get 8/2 =4 so now the base is 4cm+4cm.
since the 2 equal sides are of 5cm each so on considering half of the triangle we have the base as 4cm, hypotenuse as 5 cm and perpendicular we have to calculate so on following pythagoras theorem we have 5*5=perpendicular *perpendicular+4*4
=> 25=x*x + 16
=>25-16=x*x
=>9=x*x
=>x=√9=3cm.
