Given info : the closed interval [a , b] be the domain of function f(x).

To find : the domain of function f(x - 3)is given by,

Solution : domain of any function y = f(x) is the each and every value of independent variable. I.e., value of x.

so, domain of function f(x) means value of x and that is [a, b]

so, a ≤ x ≤ b ......(1)

We have to find the domain of function f(x -3), so, putting x - 3 in place of x in eq (1)

a ≤ x - 3 ≤ b

⇒a + 3 ≤ x ≤ b + 3

Therefore the domain of function f(x - 3) is [a + 3, b + 3]
