Let the number be x

So,   5 + x = Son's age in the future , (5 + x)4 = Fathers age in the future, 32 + x= also fathers age in the future

Since both (5 + x)4  and (32 + x) is father age in the future:  

(5 + x)4 = 32 + x

20 + 4x = 32 + x

3x = 12

x = 4

Checking:  5 +  4 = 9

                   32 + 4 = 36

                   4 * 9 = 36, Hence proved.
