Let the resistance of an electrical component remains constant while the potential difference across the two ends of the component decreases to half of its former value. What change will occur in the current through it?

From Ohm's law,

V=IR

Or R=V/I

Now, according to question,

V'=V/2

R'=R

I'=?

Again using ohm's las,

R'=V'/I'

R=V/2I'

Or I'=1/2 (V/R)=(1/2) I

Thus, the current is also halved.
