Answer:

5 m

924 tiles

Step-by-step explanation:

385= 5 × 7 × 11

60= 2 × 2 × 3 × 5

HCF(385,60)= 5

  • Longest size is 5 m
  • Number of tiles=  2 × 2 × 3 × 7 × 11= 924

Step-by-step explanation:

--->Let the side of each tile is ‘a’, Let number of tiles required be N.

=>We know area of rectangle = length × breadth

=>Area of courtyard = 385 × 60 = 22100 m²

--->Now, we have to calculate the longest size of square tile that can be used for paving the courtyard,

=>As, 22100 = 2 × 2 × 5 × 5 × 17 × 13

--->Clearly, we have to make 17 and 13 eliminate to make it perfect square, therefore we take square tiles of (2 × 5 = 10 cm) side.

=>And no of tiles =area of field / area of one tile

                            =22100/10x10

                            =221 tiles.

        hope it helps mark as brilliant.
